Abstract
Several methods have been used to remove decorative tattoos but there were some problems such as postoperative scar or incomplete removal of tattoos. Recently Q-switched laser systems on selective photothermolysis has been developed and used
widely
for
removal of tattoos. One of them, Q-switched alexandrite laser has been demonstrated to be very effective method of cleansing tattoos without scarring which is troublesome problem in Nd-YAG laser treatment or hypopigmentation in Ruby laser
treatment.
However, any report removal of tattoos using the Q-switched alexandrite laser has been nor introduced in Korea, so authors present our experience and results. Total 26 decorative tattoos in 20 patients were treated with the Q-switched alexandrite
laser(755nm). 4 to 11 treatments were required to near completely remove the tattoos at the fluence range of 6.5~9.5J/cm*. No adverse response including scarring. Long-standing pigmentary or textural change were observed in the laser treated
tattoos
except trasient hypopigmentation at 5 forearm tattoos.
